Uppuveli and Nilaveli are becoming increasingly popular among travelers seeking serene beach experiences in Sri Lanka. These coastal gems offer a much quieter atmosphere compared to the vibrant scene of Arugam Bay. Locals in Nilaveli boast about their crystal-clear waters, while Uppuveli residents highlight the charm of their beach, contrasting Nilaveli’s expansive shores. Whichever you prefer, Pigeon Island is a must-visit. Located 1 km from Nilaveli, this picturesque island and reef provide the perfect setting for snorkeling or diving day trips.

UPPUVELI

Located 6 km from Trincomalee, Uppuveli offers a more compact beach experience compared to Nilaveli. It features budget-friendly accommodations, though some may find certain options overpriced and catered more to local partygoers. While you can dive and snorkel here, Nilaveli remains the more practical choice for these activities.
